HESTA has announced its list of disability services finalists for the inaugural HESTA Excellence Awards. The national Awards recognise professionals working in disability, allied health, aged care and community services.

Finalists in the Disability Services Outstanding Organisation category are:

TAD for providing personalised technology, equipment and services to help people living with a disability to achieve their goals and live more independently; Synapse is recognised for providing a range of services for people, particularly Indigenous Australians impacted by brain injury and disability by assisting with specialist housing and support services;  Autism MATES is recognised for supporting young people with autism through organising events; giving its members a platform from which to advocate and educate and fostering greater inclusion and representation.

Disability Services Start Up category finalists are:

Challenge Community Services for delivering an innovative self-employment program designed to support people living with intellectual disability and/or autism to become self-employed,  led entirely for and by people with disability; Spinal Cord Injuries Australia NeuroMoves team is recognised for their work in delivering exercise and therapy services for people with neurological conditions;  Sharon’s 24/7 Interchange support team is recognised for their  contribution to people living with disability, including providing support to start a new life at home and in the community after incarceration.

Winners will be announced on November 26 with a live broadcast on hesta.tv
