A fruit bowl, with help from disability support group Multicap, is a finalist in the 2014 Good Design Awards. The Multi-Fresh origami style fruit bowl comes in a flat packable form for easy transport and storage and, combined with a simple assembly process, is transformed into a robust and functional container with the lid doubling as a base for the display.
The Queensland based high-needs disability organisation provides opportunities for disabled people to perform meaningful work. One enterprise working with Multicap is Multi-Fresh – a company that packages fruit for delivery to business on a weekly basis. Usability tests were conducted with prototype packages to access assembly and handling issues with Multicap workers.
The winners of the 2014 Good Design Australia Awards will be announced on May 28.
