The Australian Disability Service Conference and Awards (ADSCA) is a new event to the industry being held on April 5.

The conference and awards are intended to showcase best practice and recognise excellence to help inspire an adaptive, dynamic and innovative industry of the future.

NDIS Minister Linda Reynolds, Shadow NDIS Minister Bill Shorten and NDIA CEO Martin Hoffman, will attend the event.

Attendees comprise people working in the disability service sector, including CEOs, business owners/directors and senior managers; allied health professionals: physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists; support workers, support coordinators, recovery coaches; researchers, technicians, program administrators; policy makers, advisors and advocacy representatives.

The conference line up has 21 speakers covering topics that fit within the following themes: Fostering Community and Inclusion; Building a World Class Workforce; Harnessing Research and Technology; Leading Business Innovation and Navigating Change for Success.

There is growing interest in the topics that focus on how to engage and retain skilled and quality people, the importance of purpose, meaning, growth and compassion in the workplace, measures to avoid burnout and how to build competent, resilient individuals and teams.

The awards identified a gap in the market that specifically targets the service sector with a focus on multiple categories. The 12 award categories include, assistive technology, allied health, plan management, community programs, accommodation, early intervention, employment, best new business as well as outstanding CEOs, support coordinators and support workers.

There are 35 finalists with the winners being announced at the event on April 5 at the Sydney International Convention Centre.
