If you work in a library, have you ever thought about how the library environment can impact children with sensory differences?
For example, a child who is oversensitive may avoid busy, bright or noisy places, while a child who is under sensitive may seek movement or tactile experiences.
So how can you best support them and their sensory needs at the library so they can learn and have fun?
Libraries as Connectors is holding an interactive workshop to help library staff understand sensory differences and how they can cater to these in their spaces.
Attendees will learn about:
- Identifying behaviours related to sensory needs
- Creating a sensory-sensitive environment
- Strategies for supporting children to regulate and transition during activities.
The workshop is split into two modules.
Module 1
