Finalists across 18 categories have been announced for the 2023 Victorian Sport Awards (VSAs), that recognise sports achievers from a grassroots and high-performance level.

Over 240 nominations were received from the Victorian sporting community, who have made an exceptional contribution to sport and recreation in Victoria during the previous calendar year.

Individual and team athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, administrators, media personnel and the initiatives that promoted participation from both metropolitan and regional areas were acknowledged, as well as sportspeople who shone at national and international tournaments.

There were eight finalists from the disability sector.

  • Frank Wilkes Award – Ahmed Kelly – Para-Swimming
  • Coach of Year – Nick Owen – Para-Cycling
  • Kitty McEwan Award – Emily Petricola – Para-cycling
  • Young Athlete of the Year – Jack Howell – Paratriathlon

Four finalists were nominated for a Peter Norman Inclusion Award:

  • First Nations Calisthenics Club
  • Inclusive Sports Training – Triathlon
  • Blind Sport and Recreation Victoria
  • Sandringham Life Saving Club.

The awards will be held on June 12, 2024 at the Marvel Stadium.
