Universal Design Conference – call for presentations

Universal Design (UD) has announced a Call for Presentations for its fourth Australian conference, being held in conjunction with the ATSA Independent Living Expo in Melbourne in May next year.


The theme for the two day conference is Thriving with Universal Design: Everyone, Everywhere, Everyday, which allows a broad range of topics to be included from academics, practitioners, educators, policy makers and anyone interested in universal design and inclusive practice.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Transportation
  • Built environment
  • Sustainability
  • Housing
  • Education
  • Product development and industrial design
  • Digital technology and communications
  • Policy development
  • Tourism and travel
  • Playgrounds, parks and open spaces
  • Recreation and sport
  • Art and culture
  • Entertainment, events and attractions
  • Media and journalism
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Community engagement

The conference and presentations should be of interest to designers, architects, builders, developers, transportation, tourism, health and digital professionals, event managers, advocacy groups, access consultants and local, state and federal government personnel.


Expressions of interest should be a maximum of 300 words. Successful submissions will be advised by November, 11 2019.

The conference is being held at the Melbourne Showgrounds,  Tuesday 12 May – Wednesday 13 May 2020.
