Blind and low vision voters will be able to cast their vote by telephone in the Federal Election on September 7.  Voters need to call 1800 913 993 to register and cast their votes. This number is also accessible from overseas (+61 1800 913 993).  Voters will need to select a 6-digit PIN when they register. Once registered, voters will receive an 8-digit registration number either by email, letter, SMS or phone call. Voters will need to quote their PIN and registration number to cast their vote.

When casting their vote, candidates running in their electorate for the House of Representatives and the Senate will be read out. The voter will then be asked for their preferences and the call operator will write them as instructed. A second call centre operator will be listening to ensure the vote is recorded as the voter intended.

Voters with a disability can apply to become a general postal voter to receive ballot papers in the mail. The Australian Electoral Commission does provide mobile polling to some hospitals. Assistance and disabled access is available at polling places.
