Speedo has recalled its Sea Squad float vest, due to the risk of the floats moving and affecting buoyancy. Because the floats in the vest may separate from the front to the back this could compromise balance in the water, presenting a potential drowning hazard.
The affected products can be identified by octopus and shark characters printed on the vest. These were sold in two styles, pink/purple and blue/orange and in three sizes – 1-2, 3-4 and 4-6. Products should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. A receipt is not required.
The products were sold nationally, through sporting retail outlets and aquatic centres between October 1, 2013 and June 11, 2014. The recall does not affect any other Speedo products including Sea Squad float vests purchased before October 1, 2013.
