Adaptive Yoga FINALReturn2Sport have launched an adaptive yoga program believed to be a first for those with Spinal Cord Injury. Adaptive yoga is derived from traditional yoga with poses modified for people with disability. Depending on the level of ability, adapted yoga poses are undertaken standing or seated.

All classes are in small groups and run for one hour. Cost is $15 and classes are held every Tuesday from 4-5pm (ABI/TBI) and 5.30-6.30pm (SCI) at Royal Rehab in Sydney. Those wishing to participate need to register before attending as spaces are limited.

The instructor, Lisa Bidgood, is the only teacher in Australia to have trained under internationally recognised yoga instructor and paraplegic Matthew Sanford and completed his adaptive yoga course. Bidgood is a registered occupational therapist with over 10 years’ experience in neurological rehab and is also a certified and registered yoga teacher.
