The Disability Royal Commission will make multiple recommendations when it hands in its report on the impact of Covid-19 on people with disability on November 26 .

The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability examined whether the Australian Government and other organisations adequately considered measures to protect people with disability during the pandemic.  Evidence was given at the hearing by people with disability, advocacy groups, public health and disability experts as well as government representatives.

During his closing remarks, Commission Chair Ronald Sackville said the pandemic exacted a “terrible toll” on people with disability. He said they experienced “the sudden loss of essential support services, an absence of clear and consistent information in accessible form essential to their health and wellbeing; an inability to access health care, personal protective equipment and even the basic necessities of life such as food and medication”.

The report will be delivered to government on November 26 at 5pm.
