Queensland University of Technology is looking for participants for a study into older drivers with eye disease. The QUT is half way through the four-year study that will assess how vision changes from eye conditions like glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration might affect driving performance.

It is hoped the research will give a better understanding of how to keep drivers safe on the road as well as lead to developing early interventions and education programs that might assist drivers in this group.

The study will also investigate other motor and cognitive functions that may require interventions.

Already 150 people have been recruited and QUT is looking for another 150 volunteers  living in Brisbane or nearby locations to assist with the study.  Participants will undertake a one-hour lab test and one hour of driving. All information is confidential.
