The City of Moreton Bay is now home to Queensland’s first public We-Go-Swing.

The We-Go-Swing is an inclusive, wheelchair accessible swing for people to enjoy side-by-side with other users, for a truly shared accessible play experience.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the new swing was an important step forward in creating a city that embraces everybody.

“The installation of the new We-Go-Swing is a significant milestone, not just for Moreton Bay, but for the whole of Queensland, as it sets a new standard for inclusive public play,” he said.

“As our City grows, we’re making our most popular spots more accessible so everyone has a space they can enjoy with their friends and family.

“We’re also extending the all-abilities park at Arana Hills with features for people who are blind or have low vision and are upgrading Woorim Beach with a Changing Places facility so visitors with high-support disabilities can enjoy the beach for longer.

Councillor Karl Winchester (Division 6) said the We-Go-Swing was driven by community feedback and designed to encourage families and disability support providers to enjoy parks in the City of Moreton Bay.

“I’m proud to help bring this Queensland first to the community, so locals and visitors can enjoy old favourites alongside new adventures right here in our city,” he said.

“Our new We-Go-Swing is centrally located near shops, cafes and the iconic Woody Point Jetty, making it the perfect spot for everyone to play and make memories.”
