Two Queensland businesses with products aimed at creating inclusive environments have shared a major prize in the City of Moreton Bay’s recent Innovation Challenge Showcase.
Five finalists pitched their accessibility innovations to a crowd of 145 key stakeholders, competing for a business-building prize.
It was part of the Private Sector Pathways Program, an initiative designed to solve accessibility and inclusivity issues in the City of Moreton Bay – especially as it progresses towards its goal of becoming Queensland’s most accessible city.
The program supports innovative small-to-medium enterprises based in Queensland to collaborate with corporate partners to develop commercialisation opportunities.
This year, in a shock twist, two businesses came out with the win: Cerge and Briometrix.
Briometrix provides detailed information about footpaths and their transport connection to help cities improve mobility and accessibility. The platform creates easy to decipher maps and data that show how easy or difficult it is to navigate around a city.
The Cérge Companion App is a free assistive technology for individuals with disability, support worker, carers, and parents to notify a participating destination/venue of specific service preferences ahead of time.
They each won $100,000 and a six-month pilot partnership with the City of Moreton Bay.
