Plumtree has launched Community & Me, a project to nurture more inclusive community spaces for children. It is part of a national co-designed survey to share family’s experience of going out into the community for recreation. Responses are confidential, and the information collected will help the organisation understand the current barriers and enablers of community inclusion and participation.

Contributor insights will help to develop an Inclusion Visioning Kit, which organisations and public spaces can use to assess and improve their services for families of children with a disability or delay. There are two surveys:

A Family Survey for parents and carers of children with disability aged 0–14 years living in Australia, includes a short section of questions for your child. A PhotoVoice survey is for children to express their community experiences by taking pictures of what they like or don’t like.

Research is being conducted by the Centre for Disability Research and Policy, University of Sydney.

Plumtree is a not-for-profit, Sydney-based community organisation. For over 30 years, it has provided therapies and support for children aged from birth to 8 years with disability or developmental delay and their families.
