The Independent Living Centre WA (ILC) has undergone a restructure and is now known as Indigo. Part of the change also includes the establishment of a new organisation called Independent Living Assessment (ILA).

CEO Steve Glew said the changes have been made to enable the organisation to deliver its services and support to customers well into the future. “The two organisations enable us to better focus on the purpose of each organisation,” he said.

“Indigo will provide tailored allied health and assistive technology solutions while ILA will support people through assessment, navigation and sector capacity building initiatives.”

The changes are the biggest to be taken in its 41-year history and according to Glew the organisation has evolved to be no longer a ‘centre’ with services reaching beyond WA.

From January 2020 changes to signage, uniforms and email addresses will begin to rollout with the new websites going live in late January.

All services currently provided by the ILC will continue, under Indigo or ILA.

For Indigo these include:

  • Assistive Technology
  • Home Modifications
  • Allied Health Services
  • Driving
  • Training

And for ILA are:

  • AT Chat
  • Grants, including DEG and EFL
  • Regional Assessment Services
  • Sector Support and Development
  • Clinical Advisory
  • Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre
