Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Stuart Robert, will launch the 2019 Access Conference on August 15, at Luna Park Sydney.

The Association of Consultants in Access Australia (ACAA) is hosting this event for access consultants and those working to establish inclusive communities. The forum provides a platform for the exchange of ideas on a diverse range of topics including disability accommodation, government supported home modification schemes and accessible housing for older people as well as the role of the NDIS in building inclusive communities and the contribution of assistive technology in social inclusion.

As well as a keynote by Minister Robert, other keynote speakers are Disability Discrimination Commissioner Dr Ben Gauntlett; NDIA director – Housing, Market Settings Branch, Toni McInnes and Access consultant Farah Madon. A speaker showcase includes Paralympians Dylan Alcott and Paul Nunnari and Opera House accessibility manager, Jenny Spinak.

Minister Robert was founding director of Watoto Australia and is a member of the Watoto International board. Based in Uganda, it operates one of the world’s largest non-institutional orphan care programs.

In 2007 he was elected Federal Member for Fadden, on the Gold Coast. In August 2018 he was appointed Assistant Treasurer and following the re-election of the Morrison Government in May 2019 promoted to Cabinet as Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Minister for Government Services.
