Accessible Arts is look looking for NSW and ACT-based arts practitioners with disability or who are d/Deaf to become Accessible Arts advisors. As an advisor you will work with Accessible Arts on various projects relating to disability, access and the arts, and the organisation will draw on your expertise for various projects with the aim of making the arts across NSW more accessible.

For those interested there are several ways in which can work by:

  • Being part of a venue ‘walk through’ team, auditing a museum, gallery or performance from an access perspective
  • Being part of a focus group looking at the accessibility of funding program guidelines and application form
  • Join as a guest speaker for a training session, sharing your story as a person with lived experience of disability and
  • Consult with Accessible Arts on your ideas and views on the programs and initiatives we offer, and issues facing artists with disability.

The Accessible Arts core team includes artists and arts workers with lived experience of disability but establishing a group of advisors will ensure that more people’s voices are heard and new and fresh perspectives on access are shared.

Accessible Arts advisors will be consulted on a casual, as needs basis, and all access requirements will be met to enable advisors to participate equally in projects.

Depending on each project, advisors may receive payment, travel support, free tickets and/or training opportunities that come up.
