A new program by Muscular Dystrophy Australia (MDA) is providing practical support for young people with neuromuscular conditions.
MDA InnovAITe is a tailored program that guides participants to design a personal road map that identifies their goals, as well as helping them to develop confidence, decision making, and advocacy skills.
Delivered over 11 sessions, participants will build skills and confidence through
exploring a range of topics including goal setting, human behaviours, building resilience and metal fitness, as well as planning for and navigating change and using new technologies like AI.
CEO of MDA Catherine Stace says the program delivers on the organisation’s strategic objective to ensure young people are living full and meaningful lives.
“We know young people in our community can face multiple barriers and we are
working to make life easier and better for them, whether it’s at school, home, or through connections with peers,” she said.
MDA InnovAITe is evidence-based and delivered by experts, with a focus on empowering participants in their careers, use of technology, and social connections, she added.
The program will be delivered predominately online and at a time which fits into most schedules, and participants will also get access to recorded videos, opportunities to engage with their facilitator between sessions, and a peer-to-peer chat.
