Following a recent tender, services provider Independence Australia will continue to administer the National Epidermolysis Bullosa Dressing Scheme, the NEBDS, for a further three years.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare genetic disease characterised by extremely fragile and blister prone skin.

The scheme, which offers subsidised and affordable access to appropriate dressings and bandages, commenced in 2010, supported by Australian Government funding and managed by Independence Australia.

A Clinical Advisory Committee provides advice on the operation of the scheme, eligibility criteria and the dressings to be subsidised under the scheme.
