Gecko Traxx, the portable off-road access for wheelchairs has won a ‘Best in Class’ 2019 Good Design Award. The awards are the highest honour for design innovation in Australia and were presented at an awards ceremony in Sydney on July 11.

Gecko Traxx is a portable tyre that wraps around the existing on-road tyre of a 24-inch wheelchair and gives off-road capability, enabling easy access to the beach, snow and gravel and soft, off-road terrains. They can be carried in a small backpack and easily fitted while seated in the chair making travel and outdoor adventure a breeze. The innovative and unique cross-section design is unobtrusive when fitted to the wheelchair and expands when in contact with the ground.
