Ahead of the inaugural International Day of Play, popular children’s entertainer Emma Memma is joining Playgroup NSW as an official ambassador.

Their 3-year partnership will shine a spotlight on the importance of play in early childhood development and community connection.

Emma Memma is the alter-ego of Emma Watkins, formerly the Yellow Wiggle. She is known for creating performances that blend music, movement, Auslan and storytelling.

“Emma Memma’s infectious energy and dedication to inclusivity make her the perfect fit for Playgroup NSW. We are thrilled to have her join us as an ambassador during such a significant time – the United-Nations recognised International Day of Play – and look forward to the joy she will help bring to families across NSW,” said Emily Caska, CEO of Playgroup NSW.

Meanwhile, Emma Memma said she was excited to join Playgroup NSW.

“Playgroups are such a joyful way to bring families together through music, movement and play,” she said.

“I can’t wait to share that magic with even more little ones, especially as we celebrate the International Day of Play.”

To mark the partnership and celebrate the International Day of Play, Playgroup NSW is hosting the Big Day of Play at Luna Park Sydney on Wednesday June 11. The event will feature a live appearance by Emma Memma, and an array of engaging activities designed for families with young children.
