North Sydney Council wants people with lived experience of disability to help develop a roadmap for improving accessibility and inclusion in the area.
The Access and Inclusion Committee, a key advisory body to the council, is helping to embed accessibility and inclusion across local services and infrastructure. It will play a critical role in developing a new Disability Inclusion Action Plan, which will guide how the council removes barriers and promotes inclusion for people with disability in North Sydney from 2026 to 2030.
To ensure diversity of experience and perspectives on the committee, young people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse groups are encouraged to apply.
North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker said: “As a member of the committee, you will have the opportunity to help shape council policies and projects to better serve community members with disability, drawing on your lived experience. Diverse perspectives are hugely valuable – if you’re a young person, or part of a culturally and linguistically diverse group, I strongly encourage you to apply.”
Since it was established, the committee has advised the council on its strategies for the next 10 years that include Crows Nest Transport Oriented Development precinct, outdoor dining policy, sporting facilities and upgrades to Young Street Plaza.
Applications for the roadmap close on May 22, 2025.
