It’s all happening as the ASTA Independent Living Expo heads to Exhibition Park, Canberra on October 27-28, 2021.

Now in its second year the expo will have over 60 exhibitors displaying a wide range of products and services comprising assistive technology, mobility solutions, employment support, car modifications, pressure care, accessible holiday ideas and more.

This is an event for occupational therapists, allied health professionals, people with disability, their families, carers and friends with free entry to all visitors attending.

There is an impressive list of speakers at the free seminars with a full program that is accessible online.

Helen Lindner from MACA will review vehicle restraint options for children with disability. Lindner established Mobility and Accessibility for Children in Australia in 2019 to address the gaps between policy, research and practice relating to the transport of children with disability and medical conditions.

The role of OT driving instructors in the bioptic driving framework will be delivered by Belinda O’Connor, a founder of Bioptic Drivers Australia (BDA). O’Connor is a bioptic driver living in the ACT and Australia’s first bioptic motorcyclist.

There will also be informative sessions from suppliers including Permobil, Sunrise Medical, Para Mobility, ILS Rehab, Mobility Engineering, Linds Rehabilitation and an assistive technology update from the Therapeutic Goods Association.
