People with lived experience of disability and mental health conditions are being asked to join an Inclusion (Disability) Advisory Panel.

The panel provides strategic, expert and impartial advice to the City of Sydney, to develop, implement, monitor and review its policies, strategies and plans to improve the inclusion of people with disability.

People with disability from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply as well as family members, carers, academics and professionals living, working or visiting the local area. Supports such as Auslan interpreters, live captioning and meeting papers in alternative formats will be provided to members.

Those interested can apply in a range of formats including videos in Auslan, Easy Read and large print applications or over the phone with a City of Sydney team member.

Current panel member Tara Elliffe, pictured, has this advice to potential applicants: “Have a go! Don’t be afraid to share your experience.”

Six new members will be selected for a membership term of up to three years. Applications close October 11, 2021.
