Two international experts on brain injury rehabilitation will present keynotes at the 2026 Brain Injury Conference.

Heading the keynotes are Emeritus Professor John Corrigan and Professor Mark Bayley. Dr Corrigan is director of Ohio Valley Centre Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation that provides education and develops programs to improve the quality of life for those with traumatic brain injury. He also heads the Ohio Brain Injury Program, the state’s lead agency for policy and planning on living with the effects of a brain injury. 

Professor Bayley is medical director and chief physiatrist at UHN-Toronto Rehabilitations Institute. His work has helped redesign rehabilitation systems in Canada, and he has led randomised controlled trials around stroke recovery and the efficacy of virtual reality exercises using gaming technology. He is also active in research promoting neurological recovery.

A call for papers has also been announced for the conference program with presentations comprising panel discussions, single speaker sessions and workshops. Proposals may include: an oral presentation; a ‘snapshot’ with a10-15 minutes overview of an under-acknowledged topic, or research finding in brain injury; a ‘consumer opening address’ by a presenter with lived experience of brain injury; or a topic for a day-long or half-day workshop or panel discussion.

The deadline for submissions, that can include multiple presentations and presentations from people with a brain injury, is December 8, 2025.

Founded in 1986, Brain Injury Australia is the nation’s peak advocacy organisation representing the over 700,000 Australians living with a brain injury. The conference is one of the premier learning and development events on the disability calendar, driving improvements in services and supports for people living with a brain injury, their families and carers.

It will be held at the University of Technology Sydney, November 10-12, 2026.
