The AFDO Disability Advocacy Conference will take place in Canberra, bringing the sector together, at what could be a critical juncture in the election cycle.

The conference theme is ‘Empower. Influence. Impact,’ that highlights the need to centre lived experience, to drive lasting change across policy, practice and community, and these issues will be explored at the conference.

The Keynote will be delivered by Paula Tesoriero, chief executive, Ministry for Disabled People, New Zealand. There will also be panel discussions on: Where To With Human Rights For People with Disability? and The Personal Is Political – how lived experience drives advocacy, and a presentation on New Aviation Disability Standards.

An Inclusive Employment Showcase will feature Disability Employment Australia, Bus Stop Films, BIDS ACT, and Swinburne Centre for Employment Excellence, in addition to community spotlight and dedicated networking sessions.

The conference will be held on June 25 at the Canberra Rex Hotel and attended either online or in person.
